James O'Connor back home

O'Connor was out cold on the pitch following a clash of heads with Baggies' defender Paul McShane and the game was held up for five minutes as he received medical attention before being stretchered off whilst being given oxygen.

He came round before being taken to the hospital where he was kept in overnight but he's been released today and is now awaiting results of a scan.

No problems are envisaged although it might mean an early end to his season. He will almost certainly miss the clash at the Stadium of Light against RK Sunderland but could return for the last game at home to Coventry.

Meanwhile West Brom have confirmed that they will be launching an appeal against the sending off of McShane, claiming that it was a pure accident with McShane's only intention being to head the ball.
