There has been plenty of speculation in the last few days that Knill was the target and Bury issued a 'hands off' warning earlier in the week. However, Knill made it clear that he was interested in the role during a recent interview.
The clubs have since agreed a componsation package, one that Bury have reluctantly accepted, and Knill has now become Scunthorpe's third manager this season.
Going with him are former Claret Chris Brass, his assistant manager, and goalkeeping coach Neil Cutler.
Knill and his team are swapping a promotion chase for a relegation battle and there is every chance that Bury and Scunthorpe could meet in league action next season.
