It's Clattenburg again

Despite the result at Stamford Bridge I don't think anyone will have a complaint should the north east official referee tonight's game as well as he did that one. He had a rating of 94.5 out of 100 in our Rate the Ref feature and he's currently the top Premier League referee in the table with an average of 91.72.

Back on a regular basis after missing most of last season due to suspension he's had few difficulties so far on his return and has no taken charge of five Premier League games. Looking back over the seasons he does tend to like his yellow cards though. In those five games there have been seventeen yellow cards. Nine of them have gone to home players and eight to away players.

In his first Burnley game, back in 2001, he had a nightmare, but there really have been few complaints since for surely one of our best referees.

The assistant referees are Bobby Madley (West Yorkshire) and Andy Newbould (Leicestershire). The fourth official is Football League referee Carl Boyeson (East Yorkshire) who was in charge of our 4-2 home win against Palace last season when he turned in a shocker of a performance.
