It's 1,000 games for Grezza

Graham Alexander
He did so when he came on as a substitute in our home game against Swansea City and in doing so has joined Tony Ford, who played for clubs such as Stoke, West Brom and Grimsby, in achieving this feat.

The only other players to achieve it are three goalkeepers, namely Pat Jennings, Ray Clemence and Peter Shilton, who, like Alexander, were all internationals.

Grezza's total includes 202 appearances for Scunthorpe, 183 appearances for Luton, 400 appearances for Preston, 174 appearances for Burnley and 41 appearances for Scotland bringing it to a total of 1,000.

Those 174 appearances for the Clarets started at Colchester in September 2007 after Steve Cotterill had just secured his £200,000 move from Preston as the transfer window prepared to close. Strangely, the manager was mocked somewhat for playing a full back in a midfield holding role, but it is in that position that Grezza has played most of his football and where he enjoyed appearances in the Premier League last season.

We'll have more on Grezza's amazing achievement but for now Clarets Mad would like to send him congratulations on reaching 1,000.
