Internationals for two former loan players

Roy Hodgson reverted to a more likely World Cup line up for the game in Miami which meant Cahill partnering Phil Jagielka in the centre of defence on a night when the biggest talking point was the game behind held up for around 40 minutes during the first half because of a typical Florida thunder and lightening storm.

It's almost four years since he won the first of his caps but he's now a first choice for England almost ten years since he joined the Clarets on loan, initially for a month.

On the night before there was an international bow for a player who didn't quite have anything like the same impact at Burnley, in fact played only one game for us. Also in America, the Republic of Ireland were held to a 1-1 draw against Costa Rica in Philadelphia with Kevin Doyle scoring Ireland's goal.

Martin O'Neill gave Everton's Shane Duffy his first full cap alongside Richard Keogh in the centre of defence. It was reported that the pair had excellent games in what proved to a difficult 90 minutes for the Irish team.

They now face Portugal in New Jersey with Duffy, who faced the Clarets in January this year for Yeovil, hoping to pick up a second cap.

The INTERNATIONALS section now includes Duffy and has been updated with Cahill's appearance.
