Ian Cox back in football with Ramsgate

Cox moved to Gillingham after leaving Burnley twelve years ago and after he ended his Football League career he went on to play for both Maidstone United and Whitstable Town where he played as recently as last year.

He's now joined up with Ramsgate in Ryman's League Division One South with Jim Ward delighted to have got him to the club.

"He's working down this way," Ward said. "I know him and he's pleased to be on board. He brings a lot to the party, he's played for Palace, Gillingham, he played in the World Cup, didn't he?

"He's got experience, he's a good lad to have around the place, another good signing."

Ward might not have known Cox, who is now aged 44, played for us, nor Bournemouth, from whom we signed him in February 2000, but he played a total of 131 games for the Clarets before being released at the end of the 2002/03 season.
