Hewitt came through the youth system at Burnley and went on to make two substitute appearances in the Championship and one start in the Capital One Cup, scoring in the penalty shoot out in a win against Plymouth in August 2012.

He knows the National League having twice been there on loan. He was with Alfreton three seasons ago, scoring once in 15 games and last season also scored a superb goal during a seven match loan at Southport.

Moving to the Deva Stadium, he joins a club currently in 14th place in the league. With the transfer window opening on 2nd January, the deal should go through in time for him to be in the squad for their home game that day against Altrincham.
