That ridiculous red card has now been rescinded, but five days ago it made things more difficult for us as we tried to get back from the penalty they scored as Michael Duff was leaving the pitch.
Heaton's goalkeeping was outstanding throughout whilst Shackell simply shone in the second half, particularly during a period of West Ham pressure when our back three of Michael Keane, Shackell and Ben Mee was outstanding.
Heaton it was who won the man of the match vote. He polled 51.2% with Shackell, who was second, the only player to reach double figures, winning 20.7% of the vote. Kieran Trippier took third place with a 6.1% share and three players, Duff, Mee and Matt Taylor, were fourth with 4.3% of the vote each.
The top two in the player ratings were swapped over. Shackell was the winner this time with 8.76 out of 10, and that was just ahead of the 8.65 scored by Heaton. The two full backs were next; Mee was third with 7.24 and a rating of 7.12 out of 10 secured fourth place for Trippier.
Both Heaton and Shackell won eight points towards the Clarets Mad Player of the Year. Mee and Trippier picked up three points each with Duff and Taylor winning one point.
These latest points have made it very interesting at the top with Shackell now only four points behind leader Danny Ings who has been at the top for some weeks but hasn't won a point since February.
Ashley Barnes is third, but twelve points behind Shackell, but there is then a cluster of players with Mee in ninth place but just 16 points behind Barnes.
The player of the year, won by Shackell in 2013/14, will now go to one of the top seven with full Trippier and Mee, in the next two places, now out of the running.
There are just three games left starting with Hull on Saturday with the vote getting underway within an hour of the final whistle.
