Haines to referee Derby game

He had a good game too in that Barnsley game with his performance earning him a RATE THE REF rating of 83.33 which sees him currently in fourth place.

Londoner Haines moved to Sunderland in 2000 and immediately transferred his refereeing to the Wearside League before moving up to the Northern League. From there he became a Football League assistant referee and then, for the 2007/08, a League referee.

He had to wait over a season and a half before getting a Championship game and that came in February 2009 when he refereed Preston's home game against Plymouth.

Overall he's not a referee who over uses his cards and last season there were 90 yellow cards and 3 red cards in 92 games.

He's had a busy start to the 2011/12 season and tomorrow will be his sixth game. The first of the five so far was Nottingham Forest's opening day home game against Barnsley and he's since refereed three League One games and most recently Bury's 4-2 home defeat in the Carling Cup against Leicester. There were two yellow cards in that game, Bury's Efe Sodje and Matt Oakley of Leicester.

That's taken his total of cards this season, in those five games, to fourteen yellows of which eight have gone to home players and six to away players.

The assistant referees tomorrow are Paul Hobday and Mark Howes (both Birmingham). The fourth official is Ian Dudley (Nottinghamshire).
