Glen moves on again with friend Brown

The story started in May of this year when Glen opted to move from Wealdstone to Heybridge Swifts. It was a drop in level for him but he was signing for Brown with whom he is good friends.

At the time Brown said: "The signing has been on the cards for some time. He is a top pro and proved that last year in his first season in part time football. I saw him play three or four times last season and he was outstanding."

That lasted all of five weeks. Brown landed the job as Grays Athletic manager and immediately made the decision to take Little with him.

Brown, with Little, has done well at Grays and that earned  him the opportunity to take the vacant manager's job at Welling just four days ago. He spoke of it being a difficult decision but admitted Welling was a great opportunity for him.

As for Glen. Grays reported yesterday that his virtuoso performances, his personality and leadership on and off the pitch had won him an army of admirers from the terraces to the board room in the early part of the season.

More recently, a persistent achilles injury had curtailed his appearances and prompted him to hang up his boots.

With Brown gone, he stepped in as assistant manager for Grays' match at Barkingside on Monday evening before yesterday taking up the same role on a permanent basis at Welling, once again reuniting with Brown.

Brown said yesterday: "It's great to have Glen on board as he is somebody with great experience at every level of the football pyramid, as well as being someone I trust wholeheartedly."
