Clarets' Scottish international goalkeeper Matt Gilks is joining former Turf Moor icon Joey Barton at Glasgow Rangers.

The 34-year-old Rochdale born stopper has signed a two year deal with Glasgow Rangers, following talks with Ibrox boss Mark Warburton.

Matt was signed by Sean Dyche in the summer of 2014 prior to the Clarets' ill fated Premier League campaign. Gilks' contract expires next month and he will exit Turf Moor with just two appearances under his belt.

Gilks made just one solitary first half appearance for Scotland in a friendly against Australia in August 2012. He made his Burnley debut against Sheffield Wednesday in the Capital One Cup and played again in the same competition the following season when the Clarets were beaten at Port Vale.

Gilks was again between the sticks as the Clarets beat the Gers in a pre-season encounter last year at Ibrox. Scotty Arfield's strike separating the two sides in genial matchup.

SPL outfit Heart of Midlothian were also interested in Matt's signature but Ibrox it is.

Good luck Matt, see you again at Ibrox when we visit on the 30th of July? (TEC).
