Forssell and Alexander links wide of the mark

Burnley were yesterday linked with former Chelsea, Crystal Palace and Birmingham forward Mikael Forssell whilst Graham Alexander's name was placed alongside the managerial vacancy at Bury.

Forssell has just been released by Hannover 96 after three years with the Bundesliga club but it seems it is mere speculation, maybe efforts to try and get the Finnish international back into English football.

The suggestion that he could be on his way to Turf Moor has been dismissed by manager Eddie Howe and it looks as though there is just as much likelihood of Graham Alexander becoming the next manager of Bury.

The Shakers continue to look for a long term replacement for Alan Knill but it looks very unlikely that Alexander is interested. Should he decide to move on from Burnley it is almost certainly going to be to enable him to continue his playing career.
