Ben Woodhead has signed a contract at Clitheroe

Ben Woodhead, who was with the Clarets until the end of the 2011/12 season had been with Nelson but just under a month ago made the move to Clitheroe. He's made a good start too and they haven't been beaten since he moved there.

Manager Simon Garner has been impressed and at the end of last week he offered Woodhead a deal until the end of the season which he signed yesterday.

"I'm delighted to sign my contract with the club," Woodhead said. "I had no intentions of leaving anyway, but receiving a phone call off the gaffer last week saying he and the club would like me to sign a contract to stay at the club for the foreseeable future was very pleasing and something I was more than happy to do."

He's joined his former youth team mate from Burnley Dave Lynch at Clitheroe, but Callum Jakovlevs, who arrived at Turf Moor in the summer of 2012 as Woodhead left, has made the move in the opposite direction, signing for Nelson last week.

Callum, who had two years with the Clarets, said: "I'm really pleased to be joining Nelson. I need to play first team football so it's a fantastic opportunity for me here. It's a good club with a lot of lads the same age as me who are getting the chance to play and there's a really good team spirit, so I can't wait to get started."

He made his debut against AFC Liverpool and has now been joined at Nelson by Tom Bradley who was with the Clarets' youth set up between 2007 and 2009. Tom, or Chopper as he's best known, has been a fixture in the Padiham side since signing for them after leaving Burnley, but he's also made the move to Nelson and has become new manager Paul Fildes' first signing.
