Former team mates to join minute's silence

Last updated : 09 April 2007 By Tony Scholes
Brian sadly passed away after a short illness on Saturday morning, and today former colleagues will stand side by side on the touchline and observe a minute's silence along with the supporters in the stands.

Six of the players who played in that Championship team 47 years ago will be there. Jimmy McIlroy, John Connelly, Tommy Cummings and Jimmy Robson will stand alongside the two goalscorers from that wonderful night at Maine Road Brian Pilkington and Trevor Meredith.

Also from the sixties teams will be Andy Lochhead and Willie Irvine, whilst Phil Malley and Ian Britton will represent the team from the Orient game of twenty years ago. With them all will be the club's former secretary Albert Maddox and members of Brian's family.

It's our chance to pay our respects to a giant of Burnley Football Club. For those of us at Turf Moor this afternoon it is an opportunity to stand alongside these former players. If you are unable to be at Turf Moor this afternoon, then please take a moment ahead of 3:00 p.m. to remember Brian Miller.
