First Burnley game for Graham

Last updated : 02 December 2011 By Tony Scholes

The 47-year old refereed his first Football League game in August 2004, the League Two clash between Notts County and Chester City at Meadow Lane, but he returned to non-league football after his first season only to return to the league on a regular basis for the 2006/07 season.

He had a season and a half wait for his first game at Championship level. That came in December 2007 when he refereed Plymouth Argyle v Scunthorpe United at Home Park, a game that saw both Jack Cork and Martin Paterson play for the visitors.

His record suggests he's not a referee who gets too excited with his cards although he's increased slightly this season to having handed out 45 yellow cards and 3 red cards in 16 games.

Of those yellow cards, 14 only have gone to home team players with 31 to away team players whilst two of the three red cards have gone the way of away team players. One of those reds was in the Championship game between Leeds United and Bristol City at Elland Road with Leeds' Patrick Kisnorbo the player sent off.

Graham's last game was Blackpool v Birmingham last week with Birmingham's Jonathan Spector the only player yellow carded.

The assistant referees at West Ham are Neil Hair (Cambridgeshire) and John Hopkins (Essex). The fourth official is Ashley Slaughter (Sussex).
