Ex-Clarets on the move

Tom Blackler - playing at Woodley Sports
We've become aware that three ex-Clarets have been on the move recently with all three of them having been transferred during the summer or later at least once previously.

Cayne Hanley recently signed for Padiham, just a few weeks into the season, but he's been on the move again and has now signed for Salford City. It's a step up for Cayne with Salford playing in the Evo-Stik First Division North.

He was on the scoresheet last Saturday, getting Salford's first in a 3-2 win at Woodley Sports where he lined up against another former Burnley youth player in Tom Blackler. Injuries blighted Tom's apprenticeship at Turf Moor. He was with us in the 2005/06 and 2006/07 seasons and for a while it looked as though he would have to give up the game. It's good to see him able to play at this level.

Matt Heywood's another on the move. He had his contract at Barrow terminated recently but he's signed for Buxton and made his debut last week in a win against Mickleover Sports in the Evo-Stik League Premier Division.

And that finally takes us to Paul Smith. On the 17th June we reported that he'd moved from Quorn to Hucknall Town. That was a step up in the Evo-Stik League from the First Division South to the Premier Division.

It didn't last though and Smith returned to Quorn - that was until two weeks ago when he was on the move again. He's once again returned to the Premier Division, this time with Stocksbridge Park Steels.
