Edgar wins second cap

Edgar has had to wait some time for his international bow but got it in Greece last month when he played in Canada's 1-0 defeat, coming on as a substitute for Norwich City's Simeon Jackson.

Again he was named on the bench last night but came on in the 77th minute, replacing midfielder Will Johnson who plays his club football in the MLS for Real Salt Lake City.

It was another MLS player, central defender André Hainault of Houston Dynamo, who scored the only goal of the game, heading home from a corner on 58 minutes.

Despite two short substitute appearances, Edgar will hope to have impressed enough to win a place the squad for the CONCACAF Gold Cup in June. Canada have been drawn against the USA, Guadeloupe and Panama. Those games will be played in eight days in Detroit, Tampa and Kansas respectively.

Unfortunately the internationals section of the site is temporarily closed down due to the pages not displaying in the new format. It will remain up to date and we hope to have it back on line soon.
