Edgar in demand

The Canadian international was one of the early signings last time we won promotion to the Premier League. He signed a three year deal after opting not to stay with Newcastle.

He didn't play a Premier League game for Burnley until January of that season and ended the season out on loan at Swansea. With the Clarets back in the Championship he again came close to joining Swansea on loan, just a t not crossed or an i not dotted on the form preventing the deal from going through.

However, he then established himself as first choice central defender under Eddie Howe. He started the 2011/12 season alongside Ben Mee and went on to start all but two of the games that season.

A change of manager in October 2012 saw his opportunities become more limited. He started just 20 league games in 2012/13 season and last season there were just five starts in the Championship, all of them in midfield, prior to his release.

Edgar is currently on honeymoon after marrying in Jamaica, but on his return he has a number of offers to consider with Birmingham, whose manager Lee Clark will remember him from his time at Newcastle, now looking as though it is his most likely destination.
