Eagles flies out over the Fylde coast

Yesterday, it looked as though Blackpool had just opted not to keep him. Having signed for them in mid-November, he made his debut in a 1-1 home draw against Bolton on 22nd November but his appearance in another 1-1 home draw, against Rotherham on 28th December, proved to be his last game in tangerine.

He was an unused substitute in their FA Cup tie at Aston Villa but has failed to make the squad for the two league games since.

However, it has been reported today that the player and club couldn't come to an agreement on a deal although manager Lee Clark had previously spoken of his desire to keep Eagles at Bloomfield Road.

Clark said today: "We are not going to renew Chris' contract. We'll be using the finance elsewhere. We have other areas we need to add to."

It's brought speculation that he could head to America to join Owen Coyle at Houston. It was Coyle who brought Eagles to Burnley, took him to Bolton and was set to sign him for Wigan a year ago prior to losing his job in December.

The latest suggestion is that he could return to Bolton. Since he was released at the end of last season there has been a change in management which could allow him to return. His last appearance at the Reebok came in February last year when he was in the Bolton team beaten 1-0 by Burnley.
