D'Urso, a former Premier League referee, has had his moments since joining the Football League list in 1994, but none more so than the Old Trafford incident in 2000 when he awarded Middlesbrough a penalty, a decision that led to him being chased by Roy Keane, Nicky Butt, David Beckham, Ryan Giggs, Denis Irwin and Jaap Stam, the player who was penalised.
Four years on at Southampton he yellow carded Blackburn's Barry Ferguson twice without sending him off and that saw him dropped from the select group and he was only occasionally given Premier League games after that.
He's since refereed regularly in the Football League and this season, in 25 games, he's issued 67 yellow cards and sent off four players. Of those yellow cards, 29 have gone to home team players and 38 to away team players.
Two of those players sent off were in Championship games and on both occasions were away team players in 3-0 defeats. The first was Preston's Keith Treacy at Derby and more recently he dismissed Greg Halford in Portsmouth's loss at Watford.
D'Urso's last game was the Championship game between Derby and Hull a week last Tuesday. It ended in a 1-0 win to Hull with four players yellow carded. They were Robbie Savage of Derby and Hull's Tijani Belaid, Aaron McLean and Liam Rosenior.
D'Urso is currently in 34th place in the RATE THE REF feature with a rating of 55.77 out of 100.
The assistant referees tomorrow are Gordon Johnson (Liverpool) and Paul Kettlewell (Lancaster). The fourth official is Paul Marsden (Lancashire).
