He'll come out onto the Turf Moor pitch to make the half time draw but he'll also be there on behalf of his current club Accrington to accept a cheque for £35,000 raised on behalf of the League Two club recently.

John started his career with Burnley and had no less than three spells with the club. He opted to leave for Sunderland at the end of his contract in the summer of 1995 and during his time on Wearside had the honour of scoring the last ever goal at Roker Park whilst probably he's best remembered for scoring what proved to be the winner against Manchester United in March 1997.

He had a short loan spell back with the Clarets during the 1997/98 Chris Waddle season, a loan that ended with a red card from referee Kevin Lynch during a home defeat against Blackpool.

Just over a year later he returned on a permanent basis as Stan Ternent built his squad for promotion and John played a big part in that promotion and he scored two goals in the vital away win at Brentford.

John made over 100 league appearances in total for the Clarets but signed for Rotherham in October 2001 after Ternent had brought in Tony Grant from Manchester City. He's since played for Tranmere and Accrington but because of injury hasn't played this season.
