Could we be about to pop the Cork

Jack Cork
That is still the case I suppose. Cork joined us again in August, this time on a season long loan, and the popular midfielder has settled into a permanent midfield role in the first team and we're told he's enjoying his time at Burnley, so much so that in a recent interview he did say he would be happy to consider a permanent move.

A permanent move, certainly from Chelsea, now seems closer with the London club intimating that maybe his long term future is away from Stamford Bridge. That seems to have prompted another club to make a move for him and that could scupper our plans even to have him on loan in the second half of the season.

That club is Blackpool and he's a player that Ian Holloway is very keen to land in the January transfer window although Cork has again intimated that he'd prefer to stay at Burnley. That's the dilemma facing the Clarets who will not want to lose the player during this season.

Laws has made no secret of the fact that he'll do all he can as soon as he can to get Cork on board as a permanent Burnley player. It looks as though that time could be closer than envisaged.

He'll cost, no doubt about that, and would presumably become our biggest signing as a Championship club. But we talk about ambition, we talk about wanting to get back to the Premier League. Maybe it is time to pop that Cork.
