Fellow Claret Nathan Delfouneso had given England the lead but Cork was caught in possession for Iceland's equaliser (Iceland went on to win 2-1) before being removed at half time.

"He had palpitations in the first half and said he wasn't feeling so well so we have taken him to hospital just for precautionary status," said coach Stuart Pearce. "That is as far as I know at the moment but obviously our doctors will be in contact with the hospital."

The game was Cork's 12th at this level for England whilst for Delfouneso, also substituted during the second half, it was cap number seven and a second goal having scored on his debut against Greece just a year ago this week.
