Cork is Player of the Year as Edgar and McCann take last day honours

It was perhaps fitting that two players, Edgar and McCann, should come out top in the last game after what have been two difficult seasons for both of them. Edgar has failed to nail down a place in the Burnley team and this was only his second league start in his favoured central defensive position.

For McCann it signalled a real return to the sort of form we know he's capable of after a shocking two seasons of injury.

Edgar took the man of the match with 40.5% of the vote with McCann second having taken a 20.7% share. Goalkeeper Brian Jensen came in third with 13.7% of the vote.

The top two places in the player ratings were reversed. McCann had a rating of 8.21 out of 10 ahead of Edgar's 8.14. Cork was third with a rating of 7.72 in what we hope will not be his last game for Burnley.

Edgar and McCann both get five points in the Clarets Mad Player of the Year Table with one each for Cork and Jensen. They make no difference with Cork having already been assured first place, and in the end he's won it by 28 points from last year's winner Chris Eagles. Only one other player, Jay Rodriguez, has scored over 50 points.

Meanwhile, voting is underway until Monday for the best goal of April and May and that will be followed by the Goal of the Season vote.
