Clarets to take on Middlesbrough

More often than not we play a Premiership side at home ahead of the new season and this year it will be Gareth Southgate's side who are currently fourteenth in the table and with forty points look to be safe from relegation.

They will come to the Turf on Saturday 21st July in what is the first pre-season game to be revealed and we can expect to see the likes of Jonathan Woodgate, Stewart Downing, Yakubu and possibly Mark Viduka.

At the same time it will be an early chance to take a look at any new signings we might have made by then and I would think by the time it comes around most of us will be more than ready for the football to start again.

We are still awaiting news of any further pre-season games, but the club are set to announce that they are returning to Austria this year for a week ahead of the new season.
