Clarets' Canadian international Scotty Arfield is pictured tangling with Bolton's Dean Moxey at the Macron.

Clarets' gaffer Sean Dyche gave young guns Aiden O'Neill and Daniel Agyei starting berths in an experimental looking Burnley X1.

This game could hardly be described as spectacular but on this evidence, new Trotters' boss Phil Parkinson has already drilled Bolton into a well organised unit.

If the Horwich outfit had played with the same organisation at the same level as Burnley last season, who knows how differently things would have panned out for the relegated Trotters?

Andre Gray’s converted a penalty to put the Turf Moor men ahead before Jay Spearing’s brilliant finish just after half time brought the scores level.

Sean Dyche's Burnley have however demonstrated their resolve and fitness in the dying moments of games time and time again, with results snatched from the jaws of defeat.

Young Josh Ginnelly wriggled free of Alex Finney and despite the young defender’s best efforts, Ginnelly drilled a low shot into the bottom corner for the winner.

Burnley: Heaton (Robinson, 66); Lowton (Darikwa, 71), Keane (Mee, 45), Tarkowski (K. Long, 71), Ward (Lafferty, 66); Arfield (Jackson, 81), O'Neill, Marney (Boyd, 59), Kightly (Ginnelly, 81); Agyei (Hennings, 66), Gray (C. Long, 45).
