Clarets need more than a LITTLE help after this debacle

Well done Gareth Taylor
Unacceptable, appalling, disastrous, disgraceful – you can choose your own words but this performance was a complete insult to every Burnley fan you paid their money this afternoon.

Can I first mention the performance of striker Gareth Taylor who was without doubt the man of the match. Taylor played well, scored his first Burnley hat trick and quite honestly he didn’t deserve it to come in a match like this.

And I will mention youngster Matt O’Neill who had to make his debut as a substitute in this ridiculous performance. Well done Matt and hopefully you won’t be waiting too long for another opportunity.

As for the rest of them I ask them to take a good hard look at themselves and to ask themselves whether they gave all they could for the people who are paying their wages. Many of those people are now staying away having already paid for the privilege and many more were soon on their way as we went 4-1 down inside half and hour.

Some of the players spoke about revenge this week, getting one back on Watford for the cup defeat. It is happen as well they did, I dread to think how bad it could have been if we had not been so keen to get back at them.

One supporter said to me during the second half, with the score then at 6-4, that it wasn’t the players’ fault it was ITV Digital’s. Apparently everything at Turf Moor is ITV Digital’s fault and is it any wonder the club is as flat as it is.

It was always going to be one of those afternoons after I had read Andrew Watson’s column in the match programme. If you want to insult Burnley fans in one easy lesson then he did it here, using his selective choice mechanism to find those from this web site who support his season ticket campaign and suitably ignoring those who don’t.

His article wasn’t completely truthful either. Mr. Watson, you are (or certainly should be) aware that junior season tickets were priced from £50 in the last season in Division Two, you were after all the General Manager at the time, and that I can assure you is not more expensive than £65.

Stop misleading the fans, tell them the truth, and stop insulting them and for goodness sake stop referring to ITV Digital. I have said this before and I’ll say it again – it has flattened the club beyond belief. We are not stupid, we are aware of the financial problems, we are aware of why they came about but please stop bleating on about it.

Well done Matt O'Neill
The goings on at the club recently, mainly the loan move of Glen Little, have certainly affected the manager. That has come through loud and clear in recent newspaper and radio interviews. And that surely has affected the players. But that’s no excuse for that sort of performance.

It came against a Watford side who have been the worst team in this division since they last beat us in the league back in November and to be honest you could see why. They looked anything but a good side today and minds on cup ties cannot be used as an excuse.

But if you don’t have to do much other than move down the pitch to get a goal then life does become a lot easier and that’s what happened as the Clarets gifted them goal after goal after goal in a more shambolic effort than any that have gone before this season.

I saw eleven goals in a game for the first time earlier this season and thought it would be a once in a life time event, I cannot believe I have witnessed it again.

I have been asked numerous times since the end of the match as to when we last conceded seven goals at home. I can tell the players that they are not record breakers, it has happened before. But as far as I know the only other occasion we conceded seven goals in a league game at Turf Moor was in November 1888 against our local rivals.

"Preston, Preston, you are next," sang the few remaining fans and it just makes you wonder what the score could be on Tuesday. Stan can do little if anything with the squad, Arthur is out suspended.

Something will have to happen though because Turf Moor has not been as flat as this in years. And if I were you Mr. Watson I would take more notice of those who are not happy right now, they are the ones from whom you might not get any money next season.

But there again you prefer to listen to those who tell you what you want to hear.

Do you really want to know the teams, here they are just for the record (and with apologies to Gareth Taylor and Matt O’Neill).
