The 19-year-old was the subject of a £75,000 bid from Celtic a year ago which Dundee rejected and he has since been courted by a number of English clubs including Everton, Liverpool, Spurs, West Brom, Crystal Palace and Plymouth.

His chairman Bob Brannan said: ""We have refused an offer which does not meet our valuation. We do not want to rush into anything. The deadline for transfers is three months away and we will not be rushed into doing bad business."

McDonald was just sixteen when he made his debut for Dundee early in the 2005/06 season and has now gone on to make over a hundred first team appearances for his club scoring sixteen goals.

His manager Alex Rae said: "He will not be going cheaply. If we cannot get the fee he is worth, he'll be staying at Dens Park."
