Clarets go Long

The 20-year-old striker has made just one appearance for Everton and that came as a substitute in the Europa League in December of last year in their surprise 1-0 home defeat at the hands of FK Krasnodar.

Prior to that he'd had a loan with MK in the previous season, playing four games for them and scoring on his debut in a 3-2 win against Shrewsbury that also saw former Burnley loan player Dean Bowditch find the net.

He joined Brentford last January and made ten appearances prior to the end of the season, although only two of those were starts. He did, however, find the net on four occasions, all in victories for the West London club.

He scored the third in a 3-1 home win against Bournemouth and then found the net twice as they beat Huddersfield 4-1, again at home. Those goals came in one of his starts, as did his last, and this one was more significant as far as Burnley fans are concerned. it was Brentford's second in a 3-2 win against Blackburn at Ewood Park.

He lost the opportunity to get in more games because of a gashed knee sustained in an Everton under-21 game and was only able to return for the play-off semi-final second leg at Middlesbrough.

Long hasn't gone unnoticed at international level. He's represented England at every level from under-16 to under-20.

Sporting director Frank McParland will know him well after recruiting him for Brentford, one of the last players he took to Griffin Park before joining Burnley in the summer.

He'll know him well and Long becomes the first player to move directly from Goodison Park to Turf Moor since Shane Duffy came on loan in 2011 and played one game.
