Clarets could be unchanged for Pompey clash

Things are not quite so simple for our visitors however. They were only able to name four substitutes for the home draw with Swansea on Saturday and, whilst David Cotterill returns today, there are other players missing.

Former Reading and Stoke striker Dave Kitson has suffered a suspected cracked rib and defender Ritchie De Laet was also injured on Saturday, coming off with a calf problem. De Laet could be fit; the problem could have been cramp.

Should Cotterill go back into the squad it will almost certainly mean that Ibrahima Sonko will drop out. He was a substitute on Saturday but is the most likely to miss out to ensure Pompey don't have six loan players in their match day squad.

Portsmouth's team on Saturday was: Jamie Ashdown, Joel Ward, Ritchie De Laet, Hermann Hreidarsson, Carl Dickinson, Greg Halford, Aaron Mokoena, Jonathan Hogg, Hayden Mullins, David Nugent, Dave Kitson. Subs: Darryl Flahavan, Nwankwo Kanu, Danny Webber, Ibrahima Sonko.

Burnley have reported no injuries from the game at Derby on Saturday meaning all 18 players should be available for this afternoon.

Dean Marney missed out after picking up a medial ligament injury in the win over Middlesbrough and he's not expected to be fit for today's game.

Should we go with the same team it will mean a first home game for Chris McCann since September 2009 when he suffered the knee injury against Sunderland. It will also signal a 300th Burnley appearance for goalkeeper Brian Jensen and a 200th league appearance for Michael Duff.

Burnley are expected to line up: Brian Jensen, Tyrone Mears, Michael Duff, Andre Bikey, Danny Fox, Jack Cork, Chris McCann, Wade Elliott, Chris Eagles, Jay Rodriguez, Chris Iwelumo. Subs: Lee Grant, David Edgar, Clarke Carlisle, Graham Alexander, Ross Wallace, Steven Thompson, Nathan Delfouneso.
