Chester keen to retain Whitmore

He made his debut that night in a 1-1 home draw against Dover and has gone on to make four further appearances, the last of which was their 2-0 home defeat against Macclesfield on Monday.

Burr would like to keep him for longer and plans to have talks with the Clarets, and with Whitmore not being a member of our first team squad he's hopeful that they can come to an agreement.

Burr said: "We'll have discussions with Burnley over Alex and see what we can do with it. I thought Monday was probably Alex's poorest game for us but he's showed real good qualities since he has been here."

Whitmore himself is open to an extension. After starring in a big win against Torquay just over a week ago, he said: "Nothing has been discussed yet about extending the loan but I'll keep my ear to the ground.

"I love it here and the competitive side is different to what I've been used to so here's to many more games."
