Chadwick should be next

Stan has been linked with a whole host of Manchester United players over the summer but his number one Old Trafford target we believe was always Chadwick.

The 22 year old Cambridge born midfielder has been with Manchester United since joining them as a youth but like many of their younger players has found it difficult to win any sort of regular place in the first team because of the quality of player already there.

He spent almost a year, from December 1999 to October 2000, with Royal Antwerp in Belgium and then last season had a loan spell with our First Division rivals Reading that saw him play in a total of fifteen league games plus their two play off games.

The suggestion in Manchester is that it is now just a matter of rubber stamping the deal and Chadwick could be a Claret as early as tomorrow.

That’s not the case with Michael Stewart though as his agent touts him round. Stan said some time ago publicly that he had done a deal with Sir Alex Ferguson for Stewart but other clubs have now shown interest.

We are led to believe that he will not be going to Sunderland but will be or has spoken to Nottingham Forest and Paul Hart could yet pip Stan to his signature. There will surely be more on this over the next day or two but Stan must still remain hopeful after impressing the Scottish international midfielder.
