Carlisle is top man in Pompey win

Clarke Carlisle
Carlisle certainly had the answers to all the questions this time, particularly in the second half when we had a lot more defending to do. He won both the man of the match and the play ratings to take the maximum points towards the Clarets Mad Player of the Year.

He polled 34.3% of the man of the match vote and that was almost double the 18.4% received for midfielder Dean Marney who was second. Jack Cork and Jay Rodriguez were joint third, both having an 8.1% share of the vote.

It was defenders all round in the player ratings. Carlisle won it with a rating of 8.50 out of 10 whilst in joint second place were the two full backs, Tyrone Mears and Danny Fox, who each had ratings of 8.00 out of 10.

That gives Carlisle six points towards the Player of the Year. There are two points each for Marney, Fox and Mears whilst both Cork and Rodriguez win a point each. The points have seen Carlisle move into fourth place, just five points behind third place Andre Bikey.

Voting is still in progress for the Burton man of the match. That ends tonight and will be immediately followed by the man of the match vote for tonight's game at Doncaster.
