Last season Burnley beat Glasgow Rangers 1-0 in a friendly in Glasgow. This season they went three better winning 3-1 with Andre Gray bagging a hat trick.

A fourth minute penalty, an eighteenth minute wonder strike and a neat 54th minute finish, saw Andre Gray net his eight pre-season goal providing the Clarets with an impressive away win.

Despite Mark Warburton's best efforts to strengthen his squad it is obvious from this display that Burnley manager Sean Dyche has managed to widen the gap in quality between the Clarets and the Gers.

Dean Marney ran the midfield, leaving former Claret Joey Barton looking bemused.

Gray was quite simply too hot to handle for the Rangers centre backs and a 21,000 plus Ibrox crowd saw what is conceivably the next England centre forward in action.

Sean Dyche and Ian Woan introduced Icelandic international Johann Gudmundsson to the Clarets ranks and for all the whole world he looks like he has been there forever.

Heaton, Darikwa, Mee, Keane and Lafferty all had excellent games in the Burnley colours. Boyd as usual worked hard in the Scottish sunshine, the Clarets ball retention a joy to behold.

Andre Gray was the obvious difference between the two newly promoted sides. His movement and blistering pace will prove a handful for any defence.

If Burnley can somehow reinforce their central midfield options, on this showing the sky is the limit when they begin their Premier League campaign against the Swans in two weeks time. (TEC).
