Burnley head South and get East

Last updated : 20 March 2015 By Tony Scholes

This will be his first ever Burnley game in the Premier League. He was in the Football League only when we were last in the top flight, his first Premier League game didn't come until September 2012 when he took charge of the 2-2 draw between Swansea and Sunderland at the Liberty Stadium. He got his first Premier League red card that day too, sending off Chico.

Despite joining the Football League in 2007 it wasn't until his fourth season that he refereed one of our games. That was the 1-1 draw at Cardiff. It was another two seasons before we saw him again when he took charge of Eddie Howe's last game in charge of the Clarets at Palace.

Just two games going into last season, but there were three in the promotion season, at Doncaster, the home game against Blackpool and then at QPR. This season he's added that Spurs cup tie.

His performances have landed him in bottom place in RATE THE REF with a rating of just 53.44 out of 100.

This season he has refereed 24 games and in those games there have been 89 yellow cards and four red cards. Of those yellows, 35 have gone to home team players and 54 to away team players. Three of his four red cards have come in his last five games, and they included the incorrect sending off of Sunderland's Wes Brown at Man United at the end of last month.

Roger East's last game was Liverpool's 1-0 win at Swansea last Monday. There were three yellow cards, to Liverpool's Jordan Henderson, Raheem Sterling and Alberto Moreno.

The assistant referees are Andy Garratt (West Midlands) and Harry Lennard (East Sussex). The fourth official is Lee Probert (Wiltshire) whose last Burnley game was our 2-1 win against Leeds at Elland Road last season.
