Brighton still keen on Gifton

A number of players have been released by the south coast club, and new players will be needed, and Gifton is one player who could well be heading back to Sussex in time for the new season after being placed on the Turf Moor transfer list.

There's nothing certain but Albion chairman Dick Knight hinted at it when he mentioned the player by name, saying: “The decisions we have made will give us flexibility within the budget and we are looking to bring in more quality to the squad to add to the young talent and experienced players we already have.

“We have made no decision on strikers. We have a number of options and Gifton Noel-Williams is one of our options. We are looking for more than one striker as well as other players in key positions.”

Noel-Williams joined Brighton on the loan transfer deadline day in March and played in their last seven games of the season, scoring twice in a 1-1 home draw against Luton and a 2-1 win at Ipswich. His goals and his experience couldn't keep them up but he was praised by the Brighton fans who would like to see him back at the Withdean next season on a permanent basis.

There's been no reported news of any of our other transfer listed players – Micah Hyde, Danny Karbassiyoon and Duane Courtney.
