Branch signs in at Accy

Graham Branch at Accrington a year ago
Branchy, Burnley's longest serving player, was released at the end of last season after eight and half years with the Clarets, leaving after a successful testimonial game which was played the day after the last league game of the season.

He'd said he wanted to remain in the game and he'd said he would like to play for a club that was reasonably local to his home on the Wirral. Accrington had always been considered an option but other clubs were supposedly interest, including his first club Tranmere Rovers.

Chester, Wrexham, another former club Stockport and even Morecambe were all supposedly in with a chance of getting him, but he's opted to sign for the club geographically closest to Burnley.

Accrington boss John Coleman, aware of Branchy's versatility, has suggested he will employ him down the left hand side of the pitch. Now I wonder who will be our right back on Saturday when we take on Branchy's new club in that first pre-season game.
