Bikey departs The Valley

They have confirmed that both parties agreed that the termination of his contract, which had until the end of this season to run, was the best way to allow Bikey to go in search of pastures new.

He hasn't been involved with the first team this season but last season he was a regular for a while in the side and played 31 of their league games, all but two of them starts, and scoring one goal in a 1-1 home draw against Wolves.

Those appearances became fewer following the appointment of current boss Guy Luzon in late January and after the end of that month he made only three more appearances, the last of which was as a substitute when he came on after 33 minutes for former Burnley team mate Chris Eagles in a 2-1 defeat at Millwall.

Bikey was a big Burnley signing in the summer of 2009, arriving from Reading just in time to play in our first home Premier League game against Manchester United. His previous outing had ended shirtless after he was sent off by Martin Atkinson in our 1-0 play-off home win against them. He'd previously given away the penalty from which Graham Alexander scored.

He went on to play 70 league games for us but was banished by Eddie Howe after a shocking performance in an FA Cup defeat at Norwich and after leaving us he signed for Middlesbrough prior to signing for Panetolikos.

Now aged 30, it is possible that his time in England, certainly at Championship level, is at an end.
