Back to five subs in Football League

There are no changes to the number who can be used, that remains at three, but the number named will go back to five.

The decision was taken today at an EGM which was held at Leicester's King Power Stadium (formerly the Crisp Bowl).

A Football League spokesman said: "This was felt to be a sensible and prudent step given the financial challenges facing many football clubs and the commitment made earlier this summer to adopt UEFA's Financial Fair Play framework."

Football League clubs will still be permitted to name up to seven substitutes for both Carling Xupand FA Cup ties although for lower division clubs, such as Preston, there will only be five permitted in the Johnstone's Paint Trophy.
