Arfield, currently occupying a more central role in the absence of Dean Marney, has really been back in form in the last two games. I thought he played as well as he has ever played for us in the Man City win a week and a half ago and he was again prominent at Southampton despite the defeat.
The Scot was a comfortable winner in both the man of the match vote and in the player ratings. He took the man of the match with 38.3% of the vote, ahead of George Boyd who was second with a 17.3% share.
Michael Duff claimed third place with 12.3% while a 6.2% share gave Tom Heaton and Sam Vokes joint fourth place.
Again it was Arfield in the ratings. He scored 7.29 out of 10 with goalkeeper Tom Heaton second with a rating of 6.65. Boyd was third this time with 6.47 and 6.29 out of 10 secured fourth place for Ben Mee.
The result has given Arfield the maximum ten points towards the Clarets Mad Player of the Year, with five points for Boyd, four for Heaton, two for Duff and one point each for Mee and Vokes.
That result has taken Boyd into second place in the table for the first time this season. He has 77 points which means he trails leader Danny Ings by 15 points. It's very close for that second place just now with only nine points separating Boyd from Ashley Barnes in fifth place.
The result for the Southampton game is below followed by the current player of the year table. With no game this weekend, look out for the February goal of the month vote tomorrow with four goals to choose from.
