Amougou cup goal takes September award

Last updated : 08 October 2011 By Tony Scholes

Last month Charlie Austin's strike from just outside the box in the 1st round win against Burton Albion won the vote and this month it was that late overhead kick from Amougou, his first goal of the season, that came out on top.

The goal won us a tie, to be played later this month, at Cardiff. His spectacular effort was deflected in and prevented us having to go into extra time for the third successive round. It was certainly a winner in the vote and polled 35.9% to take first place.

Behind that goal was Keith Treacy's strike at Peterborough just three days earlier. Having gone 2-0 down he scored with a right foot shot from just outside the box and set us up for the second half which disappointingly didn't see us go on and win any points.

Treacy's goal took a 25.2% share of the vote with our fourth against Nottingham Forest the only other goal to reach double figures. That was Ross Wallace's solo goal, a good finish from the outside of the box following a run from the half way line that took us to a 4-0 lead at the interval.

Amougou's goal will now be included in the end of season Goal of the Season vote alongside Austin's winner from August.
