A good week for Edgar

Edgar came on as a substitute for the injured Michael Duff just before half time in the Carling Cup win over Barnet last Tuesday.

With Duff's injury a serious one he retained his place in the centre of defence at Derby yesterday, only his third league start in his favoured position for Burnley.

He also learned of a call up for Canada, for whom he's made two substitute appearances previously.

He didn't make the squad for the CONCACAF Gold Cup and wasn't in the squad for these games when it was announced recently.

However, injuries have forced three players out and Edgar has been named as one of the replacements and will report, along with the rest of the squad, tomorrow.

They are facing two qualifiers for the 2014 World Cup. The first of them is this coming Friday, 2nd September, against when they play St. Lucia at BMO Field in Toronto.

Four days later they are up against Puerto Rico and this game will be played in Bayamón, Puerto Rico.

Edgar is one of three players out on international duty along with Keith Treacy (Republic of Ireland) and Alex MacDonald (Scotland under-21s).
