A good night for Accy and Wes

Stanley already had Clarets' young defender Kevin Long on loan and he's played in all of their games this season, but on Monday then snapped up Wes Fletcher on loan until January.

Wes has come through the youth ranks at Burnley. He's already had two previous loans away from Turf Moor, at Grimsby and Stockport and only last week he was introduced during extra time in our Carling Cup win against Burton Albion.

On Monday it was confirmed that he'd spend the first half of this season with Accrington Stanley and manager Eddie Howe explained: "He is a player with talent. We feel he is part of the future here, which why we gave him a two-year deal. It was always part of the plan for the next stage of his development to get some games at Football League level."

Significantly, Howe added: " Hopefully he will go there and score some goals and come back that much better prepared to challenge for a place in our first team," and that's exactly what Wes did last night when he scored the only goal of the game as Accrington recorded that much needed first win at home against Bradford City.

Having got a starting place, Wes struck with 13 minutes of the game to win a close game and it came as no surprise to manager John Coleman who had thrown him straight in.

Coleman said: "Wes showed me enough in training yesterday for me to know that he was going to be a livewire, He was unlucky with his shot on the turn in the first half because they can go anywhere but he was a threat all night and he'll only get better."
