We are still a yard or two short of where we want to be

In front of a crowd of over 5,000, a Chris Eagles goal from a free kick won it for the Clarets and Laws said: "I was pleased with the work out and it was certainly the hardest of the three games.

"Raddy has a good side that passes the ball well and they caused us a few problems, but that was exactly the type of game we wanted. We learned a lot in intense heat and I though they coped with it so well.

"We are still a yard or two short of where we want to be, but this was a chance for us to iron out any flaws in our game. Today we still had one or two mistakes and it has taken a fantastic save from Brian to win us the game, but I would rather we had them today than the first game of the season.

"Overall I felt we deserved it. I would admit we were fortunate in the last minute, but I think we did enough to win the game and it was a great goal from Chris to win it. We know he has the ability to score goals out of nothing, particularly at set plays.

"He is exciting and pleasing to the eye and it was perhaps fitting that he scored the goal that won the game. We are certainly pleased with him and we hope he is still with us at the start of the season."

It's time for home now for the team, two weeks ahead of the new season. "This win finishes the tour off well for us and we thank all the people in Singapore for their hospitality," Laws added.

"They have been first class and we can only say very good things about the city and its people. Hopefully after today we have won one or two fans.

"Now we have a further two games to play, one of them behind closed doors, and that will hopefully get us to our maximum and mentally and physically prepared for the first game.

"You have to be mentally tough to come here and cope with the conditions, but I have been delighted and now I hope we can keep winning games and maintain that winning mentality."
