Everything in the garden is rosy at the moment

The Stoke fans were less than happy with their team’s performance but manager Tony Pulis wasn’t so disappointed and thought they had performed better than they had in a midweek win against Walsall.

"I’m disappointed for the players because I felt they all had a real go," said Pulis.

"They played better than they did against Walsall last week but just could not get the result. But the results are what matter most for us now, more so than the performances.

"Their full-back has hit one from 25 yards right into the top corner and they had just one other effort from Gareth Taylor which went wide and apart from that I don’t recall anything else from them.

"We have just got to keep going, keep plugging away and hope things do go for us between now and the end of the season."

Pulis thought his side should have had a penalty, although television replays show that the referee got it right, following a collision between Driss Diallo and Stoke’s Bjarni Gudjonsson.

"I’ve no complaints about Chris Greenacre’s effort being ruled out. Lee Mills fouled one of their lads on the back post and it was a good spot by the officials. But I definitely thought we should have had a penalty in the second half when Bjarni was body checked."

Stan was happy to see the Clarets pick up another three points, the third win in succession but admitted it hadn’t been the greatest of games.

"It was a hard game for us and there weren’t many chances but Westy has come up trumps for us and it was a fantastic strike, worthy of winning the match.

"After the goal we defended when we had to in what were difficult conditions.

"Stoke had a real good go as you would expect but we got the break and defended very well I thought and we just shaded it. We were content with 1-0 and it all worked out well for us. It was a competitive and clean game though and we are grateful for the three points.

"We do need a few more points yet to be certain of our First Division status, we have fourteen games to play and we intend to win as many of them as possible.

"Everything in the garden is rosy at the moment and the lads who have the shirts at the moment want to keep them."
